The other day I was doing a private photography lesson and afterwards I was thinking about how quickly changes have come to photographers. Being a photographer who's full time career as a photographer began in 1991, I wanted to be different from other photographers. So I began doing weddings slinging dual cameras around my neck and shoulder so I could do both black and white and color photos. So I used a 35mm camera for my black and white photos and for color photos either a Hasselblad 120 camera (for the posed pictures) or another 35mm. And at this time all of my cameras were manual focus and manual exposure. And I created some of my best work in this era. I miss the days of photographers needing to have great skill in order to be considered "professional". At the same time I love the creative aspect that digital brings to the table. What I can create and refine in my own images is at a new level, but sadly though I have invested my life into being a photographer, I find it more and more difficult to be an active photographer and remain in my downtown studio. With my clients ranging from Commercial clients and Musicians, and my exciting new endeavor into the world of school photography, it becomes time to once again make a change.
As of November 1st Lee Photo will no longer be in its downtown studio. This is a tough decision since our studio has been a part of Downtown Auburn since 1945. But the advantage of being a 100% mobile business is impossible to ignore. Lee Photo will still be offering our high quality photo restoration services, and for local customers we will be happy to pick up and deliver your orders right to your doorstep. I want to thank all our customers that were so loyal to Lee Photo through the decades from being customers when we were an old fashioned camera store and studio to today. And rest assured that we will continue that commitment to excellence that has led us to having a 67 year old family business.
